Writing a new chapter of an old bestseller.

The sound of a hermes baby travel typewriter in action, typing sentences. The paper is initially wound up, then typing begins, then there is the ding at the end of each line. This continues for a few lines before the paper is removed. This was recorded in-person with a tascam dr-40 stereo recorder. Public domain: i have released this audio file into the public domain. It is free for anyone to download, modify, or use without my consent and without attribution - like all freesound audio files should be. Enjoy!.

You are hearing a cherry keyboard with blue switches. You also can use this as some sort of typewriter soundeffect.

A recording of a manual typewriter. The author is inserting paper, typing a paragraph, and then removing the paper. Sound of paper being inserted into the typewriter using the paper platen winder. Then the sound of typing of about 50 words. A small bell sound is heard at the end of each line, then the sound of the platen being pushed back to start the next line, and the platen moving the paper up one line. The sample ends with the sound of the paper being wound through the typewriter and removed. I have tried to avoid clipping of each typed letter. There is a lot of percussive multi pitch sound in each typed letter. There is a mechanical escapement that provides a clicking sound as the platen is moved back for the next line. This sample was recorded direct to the hard drive of this samsung nc10 netbook using audacity set to 44. 1khz and 16 bit in mono. A dynamic microphone was used on a small desk stand about 1 foot (30cm) from the typewriter, the stand being on a different table to the one on which the typewriter was used. The microphone was a fairly cheap make (hitachi hmp606) and was pre-amplified using a maycom mictube preamplifier built into the xlr connector, connected to the mic in port of the samsung nc10 netbook. The mic boost was reduced to zero, and the gain of the maycom preamp was at its lowest setting.

A sound i recorded to sonorize a video for school. I hope it help someone there. :-).

This is a background sound i've created designed to imitate the noise produced by a vast collection of typewriters being worked on in a large warehouse environment. All the noises within in have been taken from freesound. There are 8 different typewriters here. On some channels i stuck a lo pass and some big room reverb, and on others i added a little compression to bring them to the forefront. The whole had a hard limiter to -6 on the top.

A recording of myself typing for about a 45 seconds. I recorded this for a personal project, because i wasn't able to find any sufficient quality and length audio files on freesound that would suit me. .

Processed recording of a portable mechanical typewriter. Captured using a clippy em172 microphone and a zoom h5 recorder. Edited and processed in ocenaudio. Some typing on a standard desktop pc keyboard (but you may use it as the sound of a laptop keyboard too). Recorded with a dynamic mic and a directional, condenser mic in a small room, filtered and compressed to minimize noise.

Raw audio of me typing on my old perkins brailler, this time with a sheet of paper in it. I believe something was wobbling around the desk and i couldn't get rid of that noise with audacity, however it isn't all that unnatural for an object to be vibrating or wobbling when someone is typing on a heavy brailler like this. Raw audio of the bell on a perkins brailler. This adjustable bell sounds every time the cursor is nearly at the end of a line. Recorded with a zoom h1n.

I was surprised this still worked. This is an old ibm selectric ii typewriter, with correcting tape, the “quieter” selectric at the time. It’s about 80 pounds, a real back-breaker. The carriage return bell is broken, unfortunately, so the best you might hear it is rattling due to the belt vibration. Recorded with a tascam dr-05, without the low-cut since i wanted a beefy sound. Placed direcly above the roller, about 12 inches away. I swapped the channels in audacity to match perception & sampled down to 48khz. Description: i roll in some paper, type a few paragraphs from some copy, and roll it out when i’m done. Man, can you type fast on these machines!.

The sound of a genuine 1980s daisy-wheel word processor as it is printing. They don't make them like that any more!.

Vintage typewriter, olympia of 1956, inserting paper, adjusting, typing words and senetences with two finger push search system. At the end the sheet is pulled out of the machine. Sound is self created and recorded with "tascam dr-05". Original use in projekt "akte 12" (file 12). Alte schreibmaschine, eine olympia von 1956. Es werden das blatt eingeführt und justiert, ganze worte und sätze im zwei-finger-tast-suchsystem geschrieben. Am ende wird das blatt mit der hand aus der maschine gezogen. Geräusch selbst erzeugt und aufgenommen mit "tascam dr-05". Ursprüngliche verwendung im projekt "akte 12".

A writer types various text sequences and vintage music plays in background. All set to have been done in 1967. A collection of short clips so no copyright infringements on the music titles. Last sequence is writer stopping pulling out the paper and throwing it away. Ein schreiber tippt verschiedene texte, im hintergrund läuft musik aus dem jahre 1967.
